THE STANCE

The important thing with the stance is that a player is comfortable. Player's vary in height and weight and so different players will all have different ways of standing to the shot. However a player will only be able to cue consistently well if they have a stable base and this means that most professionals share many common features in the way that they stand to the shot.

I would recommend that the player tries to stand facing the line of the shot. The right foot is placed somewhere under the cue in line with the shot with the left foot about a shoulder's width away. The left knee can bend so that the player can lean into the shot. Some players will have the left foot slightly ahead of the right while others will have them at an equal distance from the table - much of this depends on comfort. The picture below shows a typical stance.
